For 25 years, I have never believed clients and candidates sit on opposite sides of a transaction.

They are people trusting me with decisions that affect careers, families, teams, reputations, and businesses.

I have managed multimillion dollar accounts, led hundreds of consultants, built relationships that have lasted decades, protected clients by telling them difficult truths, and stood beside candidates even when doing so personally cost me.

• I have made decisions that cost me money.

• I have asked difficult questions when staying quiet would have been easier.

• I have challenged companies, leaders, candidates, systems, and sometimes myself.

• Because I do not choose the client.

• I do not choose the candidate.

• I choose what is right.

• That is how I am hardwired.

It is how I have lived my career. It is how I run GemTek. It is what I teach my children.

And while that conviction has sometimes made life considerably harder, I would not change it.

When parts of my own story became painful, uncomfortable, and professionally risky to tell, I wrote them anyway in A Thousand Masks.

Because I believe silence protects broken systems far more often than it protects people.

My legacy will never be measured only by revenue, awards, titles, books, or companies built.

It will be measured by the people I stood beside, the organizations I helped strengthen, the uncomfortable conversations I was willing to have, and whether I left this world better than I found it.
